Sunday, June 29th

What a busy weekend. I have been riding Ricky Bobby all week in and out of the round pen. He is doing good. Buddy is still nursing his hoof owee. Ricky Bobby let me ride him bareback today that was fun. A little exciting at first but he calmed down fairly fast. I think I will start riding Buddy again this week. I hope his foot gets better fast.

Ricky Bobby, what a cartoon he is. We have been riding and goofing around all for the past week. I'm not sure if a horse can get any funnier than him. He likes to wear hats, so I might rig something up for him to wear. He naturally sidepasses and pivots on his hind quarters. So fine tuning there is all we need. He also accepts flyspray and is loading in and out of the trailer.

It has been a very productive week for me and Ricky Bobby. We had a picture day on Friday so we both got dressed up. I have been riding him everyday and we are practicing the obsticles that we think might be at the competition. I also taught him how to bow. He seems to really enjoy all the attention. Yesterday I introduced him to the world. We walked down a couple of the less busy streets near my place. He was like a kid at a toy store. He wanted to check everything out and never once shied from anything. Maybe by this weekend I can take him out for a nice long relaxing trail ride.

Wednesday, July 16th

This week after me and Ricky Bobby finished our morning rides we played a little. He was interested in the lawn tractor so I fired it up and drove away. And he ponied great. We also played on a ditch bank. Definitely not a fancy obstacle but a very good and practical one. The farrier cam out this week and trimmed up Buddy. He also said that even though Ricky Bobby has clubby hoofs that we should leave them alone. His feet are sound and he self maintains them well.

Ok so I don't have any new pictures for you, but it has been a great week so far. Me and Ricky Bobby have been on a few trail rides (around town) His first ride was with a couple other horses that were great babysitters for him. Then The next ride was Ricky Bobby and me. We rode down a few blocks from my house and set up next to a busy street. He didn't seem to even care that cars were speeding by. Now on to the arena work. We are loping all over the arena and working on circles and figure 8's. He is sidepassing both directions pretty good and moves his front end over the rear. It is still step by step but he is learning fast. I have trailered him several times now to new places and he doesn't hesitate to load. Along with perfecting all the other maneuvers we are starting to work on a sliding stop. This horse is going to make someone very happy. He has the potential to make a good kids horse (Really).
